Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Snap Finder collects and how that information is used while the service is in alpha and beta testing.

Information We Collect

• Account information such as display name, email address, password hash, email verification status, and account moderation status.
• Listing information such as Snapchat handle, public display name, bio, categories, tags, optional zip code, optional profile image URL, SFW/NSFW status, and moderation status.
• Report information such as reason, optional details, reporter account if logged in, IP address, and timestamp.
• Basic technical information such as session cookies, rate-limit data, and request information needed for security and abuse prevention.

Age Gate

The MVP age gate asks for date of birth and confirmation that the user is 18 or older. Snap Finder stores age access status, verification method, and limited metadata such as birth year. It does not store identity documents, biometric data, or a full date-of-birth record. The system is designed so a third-party age-verification provider can be added later without rebuilding the NSFW access system.

How Information Is Used

Information is used to operate accounts, display approved listings, hide Snapchat handles from logged-out visitors, enforce NSFW access rules, process reports, prevent spam and abuse, and support admin moderation.

Public Visibility

Approved SFW listings may be visible publicly, but Snapchat handles are hidden from logged-out visitors. NSFW listings, NSFW categories, and NSFW tags are hidden unless the user is logged in, email verified, and age-gated.

Data Retention

Account, listing, report, and moderation records may be retained as long as needed to run the directory, review abuse, enforce rules, and maintain site safety. Test data may be cleared as the service moves from alpha toward beta.

Security

Passwords are stored as hashes. The service uses account sessions, throttles, CAPTCHA-style bot checks, moderation review, and hidden handles to reduce abuse. No website can guarantee perfect security.

Third Parties

Snap Finder may link to Snapchat or external image URLs supplied by users. Those services have their own privacy practices. Snap Finder is not affiliated with Snapchat or Snap Inc.
