Black hole — NASA visualization
The homepage accretion disk is the stationary edge-on black-hole visualization produced at NASA Goddard. It illustrates gravitational lensing, the photon ring, the black-hole shadow, and a warped accretion disk; it is a scientific visualization, not a photograph.

Other Solar System worlds and exoplanets — procedural interpretations
These surfaces are generated inside Space Pixel and are not direct observations. Color, clouds, terrain, oceans, rings, and atmospheric appearance are artistic visualization choices. The astronomical names are real; the rendered surfaces are not evidence of their appearance.
Real-world inventory snapshot
The Solar System view follows the International Astronomical Union distinction between eight planets and five recognized dwarf planets: Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris. It features 31 major or scientifically prominent moons. This is a curated placement collection, not an assertion that the Solar System has only 31 moons; NASA and JPL currently track hundreds.
The nearby map includes every confirmed planet listed in the 12 displayed systems when reverified on August 31, 2026: 40 planets, 12 selectable planet-hosting stars, plus Alpha Centauri A and B and LTT 1445 B and C as associated stellar companions. The NASA Exoplanet Archive reports no confirmed moons for these systems. Unconfirmed candidates, hypothetical exomoons, and artistic surface features are not sponsorship inventory.
System positions, separations, sizes, and orbital paths are deliberately compressed for browser navigation and are not a scientific scale model. Dossiers use composite planet and stellar parameters including discovery, orbital period, semi-major axis, radius, mass, density, energy received, eccentricity, temperature, spectral type, and system multiplicity when available.

Rendering foundation
The browser scene uses the MIT-licensed Three.js runtime already distributed with Space Pixel. OpenSpace and the MIT-licensed Cosmos Explorer were reviewed as architectural references; neither is embedded as a dependency and no Cosmos scientific-data pipeline is used.
