Quickstart

The experiment uses stable paths beneath API Foundry rather than a version folder. During the experimental contract, omit the version header to use the current 0.x contract.

Authentication

Data and account endpoints on the Experiment host require X-Forge-Key. The gateway retains Bearer compatibility for a future host, but this hosting edge strips the standard Authorization header. Keys are random, shown once, and stored only as SHA-256 digests. Status, catalog, plans, documentation, examples, and OpenAPI are public. Public account registration remains disabled.

Independent versioning

Every response reports api_contract_version, dataset_version, and data_refreshed_at. Contract versions track request and response behavior; dataset versions track source refreshes. Contract 1.0.0 remains reserved for the Lab-ready release.

Collections support cursor or page pagination according to the dataset and cap pages at 100 records.

Search and filtering

Search endpoints accept q. Common collection filters include status, country, state, category, date_from, and date_to where the data supports them. Use fields and exclude for projection.

The Stripe subscription, one-time credit-pack, signed-webhook, idempotency, customer, portal, and account-entitlement contracts are installed. Billing is intentionally disabled until dedicated Stripe secrets and Price IDs are configured. Automatic overages remain disabled; quotas are hard limits.

The serialized due-check activates only validated releases. Lab promotion changes the stable application pointer, so the same jobs and history move with the product.

Provenance and rights

Records retain their source, source record identifier, retrieval time, source update marker, license, snapshot hash, normalization version, and commercial-readiness state. Project Gutenberg records are metadata only, store no full text, and explicitly require item-level rights verification.
