PARADISE ENVIRONMENT / WINDOWS BASE PREVIEW 0.2

Your scenes.
Room to work.

Draft in a scene binder, keep research beside your writing, and return to earlier versions when a revision takes a different turn.

Extract the ZIP, then open ParadiseEnvironment.exe. The package includes the executable, source, instructions, and test results. It is unsigned, needs a compatible Windows .NET Framework 4 runtime, and installs no dependencies. Do not bypass operating-system security warnings.

A WORKING LOCAL FOUNDATION

Write. Arrange. Revisit.

  • Add, rename, edit and reorder binder items.
  • Choose Scene, Research, Character or Note.
  • Keep project notes and notes for each item.
  • Take snapshots and restore earlier scene text.
  • Search the current scene; export a whole manuscript.
  • Import UTF-8 text and open older Paradise files.

Saving is explicit. Ctrl+S saves your project. A previous-file backup is kept beside each updated project. Snapshots also need a project save to become durable.

FROM DESK TO DESKTOP

Your project travels with you.

Start a project

Use File → New project, write a scene, then Ctrl+S to save a .paradise.json file. Use the Project menu for title, notes and snapshots.

Move a copy online

At your online writing desk, open “Import a Paradise project.” It creates a new private project and preserves existing work. Download a portable project file there to bring it back to Windows.

Keep an independent copy

Portable files transfer writing, item types, notes and up to 30 snapshots per item. There is no automatic sync. Save both copies deliberately and keep backups.

Online import limits: 2 MB, 200 items, 120-character titles, 200,000 characters per item, and 30,000 characters per notes field. Desktop limits are larger, so some desktop projects cannot be imported online. The README explains all limits and recovery.

Tested, with clear limits.

The actual Windows build passed 24 storage checks and a form workflow test covering notes, item types, snapshots, search, repeated scene switching and save/reopen. A rendered Windows form was inspected. A synthetic project also completed a web → Windows → web file round trip.

Interactive Windows file-dialog acceptance, keyboard-only Windows navigation, high-DPI displays, physical-device testing, crash recovery and concurrent-instance save races remain unrun. This is a base preview, not a complete replacement for a mature writing suite.

No rich text, nested research folders, spelling/grammar service, Scrivener import, automatic saving, AI connection, cloud sync, installer or auto-update is included. The desktop app does not upload writing. Keep independent copies of important work.
