Site Migration Workbench
Plan and review website migration mappings, freeze approved revisions, export WordPress/Nginx rules and verify staging or production against the exact plan.
The problem it solves
Site Migration Workbench A local workspace for deciding where old website URLs belong, freezing a reviewed migration plan, exporting supported redirect rules, and checking a declared URL set against that exact revision.
Who Site Migration Workbench is for
- People handling browser, web, or document data who want a local and inspectable workflow.
- Users working with website migration, redirects, local-first who want the documented v0.1.1 behavior.
- People who prefer an open-source release with visible limitations, source, and license terms.
Intended result
Plan and review website migration mappings, freeze approved revisions, export WordPress/Nginx rules and verify staging or production against the exact plan.
This summary is reconciled from the current catalog and repository documentation.
Features in v0.1.1
Capabilities below come from the current project README and release documentation.
A local workspace for deciding where old website URLs belong, freezing a reviewed migration plan, exporting supported redirect rules, and checking a declared URL set against that exact revision.
Version 0.1.1. Complete local migration planning, review, deployment exports and verification for the documented Linux/POSIX scope. See acceptance evidence for measured results and validation limits.
Verified examples
Screenshots are shown only when the current README references a local source image. Otherwise, repository example files are linked directly.
Platforms and implementation
The public release claims only the cataloged platforms and technologies.

Changelog
Release notes from the canonical v0.1.1 source tag.
- Compare historical runs with the nearest older matching plan/environment, preserving regression direction.
- Add URL search and accessible remediation paging across every report row, with retry selections retained across pages and same-run refreshes.
- Keep long run hashes and report URLs within narrow report layouts.
- Add browser regressions for three-run history and remediation/retry access beyond 100 rows.
- Add local projects, provenance-preserving inventories, reviewed dispositions, bulk preview/undo and frozen approval hashes.
- Add conservative deployment adapter implementations and full plan export.
- Add declared-set staging/production verification, resumable runs, evidence/regression reports and redacted sharing.
- Add loopback access controls, bounded private-target-aware pinned transport, safe rendering and portable backup/restore.
- Document tested Linux/POSIX support, conservative exporter capabilities and measured acceptance evidence.
Quick start
The shortest documented path into the current release.
Open the current release, follow the repository README for Site Migration Workbench, and use only the documented inputs and commands for v0.1.1.
Current limitations
These boundaries are part of the product and prevent the page from implying unverified capability.
URL identity lowercases the scheme/host and removes default ports. It preserves path case, trailing slash, percent spelling and query order. Fragments and URL credentials are rejected. The tool does not assume that similarly named pages mean the same thing.
The current deployment adapters deliberately handle a conservative subset. Query-dependent, encoded, Unicode and ambiguous paths block adapter export, with an instruction to implement those rows manually. Full plan exports retain them and verification still accepts them. See the capability matrix.
Network checks pin connections to validated DNS addresses, reject private/reserved addresses by default, and validate every redirect's site scope. Additional old/new site origins can be explicitly approved in project settings; they are contacted as declared. Only the primary production origin substitutes to staging. Explicit private staging access requires a narrow per-project exact-IP allowlist. Requests do not use environment proxies. Authentication, cookies, JavaScript rendering and login journeys are unsupported. A 401/403 or unavailable response is inconclusive.
Responses are bounded to 1 MiB with bounded redirects, DNS capacity and request deadlines. Evidence contains observed chains, status, title, canonical and page/header noindex directives. robots.txt is explicitly not evaluated. A pass describes observed technical behavior for the supplied URL at that moment; it does not guarantee completeness, rankings, traffic, indexing, semantic equivalence or absence of soft 404s.
